Wisconsin Infant Immunization Week and BigShots Winners

Governor Evers proclaimed April 27—May 4, 2019, as Wisconsin Infant Immunization Week (WIIW). This week is a chance to highlight the importance of vaccinating our youngest children against preventable diseases and to celebrate how immunizations have helped on keep our communities healthy.

To commemorate Wisconsin Infant Immunization Week, we are excited to announce our 2019 Wisconsin BigShots winners. To be eligible to receive an award, clinics that submit data to the  Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR) must have at least 90% coverage levels for the 4:3:1:3:3:1:4 vaccine series for their clients who turned two years of age in 2018, have achieved or 80% coverage levels for the adolescent platform (1Tdap, Complete MCV4, Complete HPV) by 13-18 years old.

Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR) Webinar Series – Vaccine Scheduling

WIR staff will hold a webinar on Thursday, May 16, 2019, from noon—1 p.m. The webinar will cover vaccine scheduling in WIR. This presentation will cover:

  • When and how a vaccine schedule gets implemented, updated, or changed in WIR
  • The meaning of the different color codes within the WIR forecaster
  • How to determine why a vaccine was not valid in WIR
  • Best resources for information on vaccine schedules resources
  • Common vaccine schedule questions about
    • Influenza
    • Rabies
    • Tdap
    • Adult pneumococcal series
    • Hepatitis A
    • Twinrix
    • Zoster

Please note, you will need a computer with speakers or headphones in order to participate. There will not be a conference number to call.

Vaccine-Preventable Diseases Data

An updated monthly pertussis report is now available on the Vaccine-Preventable Diseases pageunder 2019 Reports. This report summarized pertussis case occurrence and investigation activity in Wisconsin this year.

The mumps report has also been updated and can be found on the Vaccine-Preventable Diseases page under 2019 Reports. This report details mumps cases in Wisconsin since November 2016.
