Pediatric EMS calls represent approximately 7-8% of all Wisconsin EMS calls and respiratory distress is one of the most common primary impressions for pediatric EMS calls. The Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services for Children program (WI EMSC) created this two-part course to prepare EMS providers to respond to pediatric respiratory distress. In part one, EMS providers will learn to assess and recognize the signs of respiratory distress. In part two, EMS providers will learn to use information gathered in assessment to reach a working diagnosis and become familiar with specific interventions to preform based upon the working diagnosis.
