Schools are an important part of the infrastructure of communities. They provide safe, supportive learning environments for students and employ teachers and other staff. With the beginning of the fall term 2020, K-12 schools have variably used several models of instruction, including in-person, virtual, and hybrid models of instruction. Other countries have opened schools at varying points in the pandemic. Their experiences have contributed to our knowledge of the nature of SARS-CoV-2 transmission in schools and their surrounding communities.
